Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of the Transitional Care Unit. Supervises all nursing service functions and clinical activities. Is responsible for the quality of patient care and ensures that sufficient and properly prepared personnel carry out the function of Nursing Service. Is knowledgeable of social, economic and legal issues affecting the health care system and seeks all opportunities for keeping the staff up to date in health care practices. Develops, directs, implements and ensures compliance of the Standards of Nursing Practices, N.Y. State and JCAHO Standards. Ensures that the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation) is documented for each hospitalized patient from admission through discharge (JCAHO Standard NR5.1).
Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled in bachelors program. Experience: Three (3) years of sub-acute or long term care care clinical experience and two (2) years acute care experience. Three (3) years managerial leadership experience. BLS. MDS Certification within 6 months of hire. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. Demonstrated expertise in management and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills. Membership in professional organization.
